Algunos pasajeros habituales se han puesto en contacto con nosotros para consultarnos sobre los viajes a Tibet, porque han visto que algunas agencias informan de que se pueden hacer con total normalidad, y dicen que en el 2015 también se han operado.
Ante la extraña noticia, hemos hablado con nuestra oficina de Lhasa, y nos confirman que las obras de la carretera de Lhasa a Kathmandú no han finalizado, y por lo tanto la carretera sigue cortada (aunque a algunos vehículos puntualmente se les permite pasar exclusivamente para suministro, no para el turismo)
Por lo tanto, desde que ocurrió el terremoto hasta hoy, el tour por carretera, de Lhasa a Kathmandú, no se puede hacer; y, como mínimo (sin confirmar la fecha), hasta Octubre del 2016 no finalizarán las obras de la carretera.
A continuación detallamos la carta recibida desde nuestra oficina en Lhasa.
Dear Mr. Juan Carlos,
As you know that on 25 April 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal and parts of Tibet. The quake killed over 9000 people and caused widespread destruction. The earthquake caused heavy damage along the border areas of Nepal and Tibet, particularly around the international border area at the towns of Kodari, Nepal and Zhangmu, Tibet. This border crossing has been closed since the day of the earthquake. It is highly unlikely that this border will reopen before September / October 2016 also may go longer. When the situation changes, I will inform you beforehand, so that you can start booking for overland trip to Tibet.
With the Nepal-Tibet (and vice-versa) overland border crossing closed, the flying is only the option to Travel Tibet from Nepal. There are weekly flights between Kathmandu and Lhasa.
Recent news reports from China and Nepal (early October 2015) suggest that the overland border crossing from Tibet to Nepal will reopen soon. However, this is ONLY for goods (mainly petrol etc.) to get to Nepal from China. It will still take many months or more before immigration posts are rebuilt and foreign travelers are able to use this route. Again, this border crossing remains CLOSED to travelers even if some trucks carrying goods are able to cross from Tibet to Nepal.
This closure ONLY affects the overland border crossing from Nepal to Tibet (and vice-versa). It does NOT affect travel in other areas of Tibet or Nepal. Places like Mt. Everest, Mt. Kailash, Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyantse, Nam Tso Lake and other areas of Tibet are ALL OPEN.

Leyendo el documento anterior se puede comprobar que es posible viajar a Tibet, pero teniendo en cuenta que no se puede pasar por carretera desde Lhasa a Kathmandú; la opción es hacer ese trayecto en avión.
